What's the history of dreamcatcher 💫

This is based on a legend that was spread among the Native Americans.
According to those legends, Christopher Columbus was one of the spiritual leaders of the Ojibwa people, a group of its inhabitants long before the discovery of America. One day while he was at the top of a mountain, he met another wise man named Iktomi. Iktomi appeared in the guise of an eight-legged spider. According to some legends, she was a woman. However, there was a deep conversation between the two about the good and bad of the world.

(According to this ancient story, the spider said that the world is a cycle and that everyone's life is cyclical from birth to death.)

During the conversation, Iktomi began to weave a net from their sacrificial objects, such as feathers, horse thread, beads, and a willow ring, which the spiritual leader possessed. During this very long conversation, this weaving has continued unabated. It is said that he presented the Ojibwa spiritual leader with the willow ring, which was beautifully woven at the end of the conversation. From then on, the tradition of catching good dreams and destroying bad dreams began among these Native Americans.

Native Americans believe that good air in the night air is absorbed through that hole and gives a good night's sleep. They also believed that nightmares that interfere with a good night's sleep would be trapped in the nets and destroyed by the morning sun. Although Dream Catchers are everywhere as a decoration these days, many people are unaware that the tradition is to hang them above the bed.

Although Dream Catchers are made of different types of embroidery using different materials such as fabrics and ribbons, some of its traditional features still survive today. It deviates from its original purpose of dreaming and appears as a mere decoration. Although its original story and associated culture are not known, it is gratifying to note that this marvelous creation of Native Americans is still a symbol of those who value peace of mind and the environment around them. So the colorful feathers dancing in the wind in front of our eyes when we go to sleep can really lighten our minds.😌💫
